The Story -

It’s an unfortunate fact that throughout its history the Church has experienced much division - sometimes for good reasons, but often not. We see this not just in the hundreds of denominations that exist, but also on a local level in our own church bodies. Sometimes it is obvious, sometimes it is a spirit of dissension lurking below the surface which gradually spreads its poison.

At the end of the day, division and dissension in the Body often comes down to an issue of pride. This song is a reminder that, at the foot of the cross, we are all in equal need of a Savior. All of us have sinned, all of us need the blood of Jesus to cover our sins. Like a scarlet cord, it is both our rescue and a stark reminder of how much we need rescuing. Let that realization humble you and let that humility bind you together as one.
